pH Down

how to use ph down:
- Test pool water with pH testing kit.
- If pH levels are above 7.6, just add ready to use pH Down to pool for lowering pH to target levels between 7.2 and 7.6.
- Before adding pH Down, make sure your pool pump is running.
- Carefully open container making sure not to splash or spill pH Down on unintended surfaces which could result in damage. Hold the container close to the pool surface and away from your body.
- Slowly pour the suggested dosage of pH Down around the perimeter of the pool water surface. Avoid adding near walls, shallow areas, skimmers or any metal fixtures in the pool.
- After 2 hours of circulation, use a pH testing kit to check proper pH balance.
- Repeat steps until pH achieves level between 7.2 and 7.6.
- All pH adjustments should be performed a minimum of 2 hours prior to pool use.
Pool Shock
A balanced pool for optimal swimming conditions should have levels of pH between 7.2 to 7.6 and alkalinity between 50 to 100 PPM.

How to disinfect swimming pool water: (Follow dosage chart on specific product label before using.)
- For a new pool or for spring start up, superchlorinate with (64 to 128 oz.) on 10% pool shock or (52 to 104 oz.) on 12.5% pool shock for each 10,000 gallons of water to yield 5 to 10 PPM available chlorine by weight. Check the level of available chlorine with a test kit. Adjust and maintain pool water pH to between 7.2 to 7.6 and alkalinity between 50 to 100 PPM.
- To maintain the pool, make sure your pool pump is running, add manually or by a feeder device (13 oz.) on 10% pool shock or (11 oz.) on 12.5% pool shock for each 10,000 gallons of water to yield an available chlorine residual between 0.6 to 1.0 PPM by weight. Stabilized pools should maintain a residual of 1.0 to 1.5 PPM available chlorine. Test the pH, available chlorine residual and alkalinity of the water frequently with the appropriate test kits. Frequency of water treatment will depend upon temperature and number of swimmers.
- Every 7 days, or as necessary, superchlorinate the pool. Repeat directions above for new pool and spring start up. Check the level of available chlorine with a test kit. DO NOT enter pool until the chlorine residual drops below 4.0 PPM.
How to winterize pools:
While water is still clear and clean, apply (4 oz.) on 10% pool shock or (3 oz.) on 12.5% pool shock per 1,000 gallons, while filter is running, to obtain 3 PPM available chlorine residual, as determined by a suitable test kit. Cover pool, prepare heater, filter and heater components for winter by following manufacturers’ instructions.
Pool Antifreeze

How to use pool antifreeze:
- Always follow the directions from your pool manufacturer on winterizing your pool. Directions may vary depending on pool construction. The following instructions are provided for general use.
- Completely drain all lines and equipment. Be sure to drain both plugs on pump (one on strainer and one on the volute cavity.)
- Drop pool level below inlets. Blow all water from pipes using an air compressor or the discharge side of a vacuum. After draining lines, plug inlet openings in pool. Plugs are available at your pool store. Fill lines with Champion pool antifreeze. Use same process for skimmer lines.
- Main drain lines can only be winterized in this manner if they can be plugged after they are filled with air. If they cannot be plugged, close upper end of the line, install air fitting and winterize by keeping line filled with air.
- In spring, remove Champion pool antifreeze with wet vac from all lines and equipment.
